The Bayat Foundation is dedicated to assisting the people of Afghanistan as they continue to rebuild their economy and forge a better future for their country. One of the organization’s primary concerns is healthcare and women’s issues. Over the years, the Bayat Foundation has spearheaded a number of projects to improve health outcomes for women, including the construction of new maternity wards around the country.

In the Behsood District of Wardak Province, an underdeveloped and underserved area, the Bayat Foundation provided for the construction of a new 30-bed maternity hospital called Bibi Khairi Gul Hospital. Located in Hessa Dowom, the facility has served women since 2011. Prior to the establishment of this hospital, women had few options for healthcare during pregnancy and labor. The modern facility meets the needs of women throughout the district with spacious patient rooms, an operating room, and spaces dedicated to post-operative recovery as well as delivery. A complete electrical system ensures that the staff has access to the technologies they need to treat their patients.

The foundation also provided for the construction of Shirin Taj Hospital, located in Wardak Province’s Tagaab Village. Opened about the same time as Bibi Khairi Gul Hospital, Shirin Taj Hospital features all of the amenities of the other hospital, including a dedicated pharmacy and private doctors’ offices. These two hospitals recognize the vital importance of providing proper care for women during birth and as they recover, and for newborn infants. Ehsan Bayat, chairman of the foundation, is excited to keep healthcare in Afghanistan moving forward.

In addition to these two freestanding women’s hospitals, the Bayat Foundation additionally funded the reconstruction of Rabea Balkhi Hospital’s surgical maternity ward. This important facility has saved the lives of countless mothers. The reconstruction project involved the creation of new surgical areas outfitted with modern equipment and comfortable areas for recovery from surgery.
